Your Zakat and Sadaqah help Muslims in New Zealand who are struggling to pay bills, buy food for the family, pay healthcare related costs, provide basics for their families, and much more.
Despite Zakat being a pillar of Islam, it’s not having a big enough impact in New Zealand. There are thousands of Muslims across the country who can and should be giving Zakat, but not all Muslims know there’s a need to give it where they live.
Help Muslims who are struggling to pay bills, put food on their table and provide for their families.
More NZ Muslims than ever are in desperate need. They need our support right now. We’re distributing your Zakat in communities like yours.
Give your Zakat locally this Ramadan, you’ll be giving hope and dignity to your fellow Muslims.
Br Khalid (not his real name) is migrant on a work visa, wife and 3 children. He needed a heart by-pass surgery. His employment insurance covered the surgery and hospital costs, and the employer allowed him 6 weeks paid leave for post-surgery recuperation. At the end of 6 weeks, he developed complications that required hospitalisation. He was no longer entitled to more leave with pay.
The employer agreed for leave without pay. He needed income to pay $530 rent per week, buy food for the family and pay utility bills. A friend of Khalid approached NZF for help. We called for a public appeal to help the family in need.
Within a week Br Khalid asked is to stop the appeal as he received enough money for a month’s rent through Sadaqah and Zakat assistance he said was enough to help him get through. That was a massive response from the community.
Some months later we heard Khalid and family were granted NZ residency visas.
Alhumdulillah
